GREAT SOUTHWEST (GSW) TRACK AND FIELD CLASSIC
JUNE 2ND,3RD & 4TH
DEAR COACHES,
The GSW is a nationally recognized meet for high school runners from all over the nation. The meet mainly provides exposure for teams from Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado and Arizona. The main purpose of the meet is to provide outstanding athletes in each state the opportunity to compete in a regional invitational meet. Over the years the quality of the competition has resulted in national recognition and rankings.
Each year the Oklahoma Track Coaches Association (OTCA) invites 50 athletes (25 boys and 25 girls) from Oklahoma to compete in this event. Team members are chosen from coaches nominations made directly to the Oklahoma boys/girls selection chairperson. Coaches making the nomination must be a member of the OTCA. The Selection Chairperson will notify coaches/athletes on whether they are actual team members or alternates. All athletes will be considered alternates until officially notified. Further instructions will be provided after notification. Athletes not confirmed by the state selection chair will not be able to compete.
Transportation and Hotel arrangements will be made by the OTCA for athletes only. The OTCA does not profit financially from this event, but a charge to the athletes will be made to cover the cost of the bus and hotel. Great Southwest rules require that athletes stay in the same hotel as their state team members.

ITINERARY
*The 1st pick-up time is prompt. Due to traffic-all others will be approximate.
1st pick-up Friday June 2nd------leave 7:00am----Meet Coach Stanton-Tulsa Union High School-North parking lot.6636 S. Mingo Road (just North of 71st and Mingo)
2nd pick-up-----leave 9:00am--meet Coach Wilkenson and Coach McGowan 8:30am-at the Biltmore Hotel--401 S. Meridian Ave. Oklahoma City, OK 73108 (just North of I-40 & Meridian)
3rd pick-up-----leave 10:15am -- meet Coach Seifried 9:45am at Weatherford High School-North Parking lot---1500 N. Washington Street. Weatherford, Ok
Stop in Amarillo, TX for lunch 12:45-1:00 (T/A Truck Stop)

4) Curfew and room check 10:00pm
***PARENTS-THE GREAT SOUTHWEST DOES PROVIDE 24HOUR SECURITY AT THE HOTEL
Saturday June 3rd
1) Breakfast with your new friends (team)
2) Field event shuttle 9:30am
3) 1:00pm Shuttle the remaining All-Stars to track
4) Have fun and Compete
5) Return to Hotel after meet for dinner and refreshments
Sunday June 3rd
1) Depart Wyndham Hotel 8:00am
2) stop for quick breakfast along the way
3) Stop in Amarillo, TX for lunch (T/A Truck Stop)
We will have kids call for rides within an hour of where they will be dropped off
1st drop off point --Weatherford High School around 4:00pm-5:00pm
2nd drop off point--OKC Biltmore Hotel 5:30pm-6:00pm
3rd and last --Tulsa Union High School 7:00pm-8:00pm.
