OKLAHOMA ALL STAR TEAM GREAT SOUTHWEST (GSW) TRACK AND FIELD CLASSIC JUNE 2007
DEAR COACHES, The GSW is a nationally recognized meet for high school runners from all over the nation. The meet mainly provides exposure for teams from Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado and Arizona. The main purpose of the meet is to provide outstanding athletes in each state the opportunity to compete in a regional invitational meet. Over the years the quality of the competition has resulted in national recognition and rankings. Each year the Oklahoma Track Coaches Association (OTCA) invites 50 athletes (25 boys and 25 girls) from Oklahoma to compete in this event. Team members are chosen from coaches nominations made directly to the Oklahoma boys/girls selection chairperson. Coaches making the nomination must be a member of the OTCA. The Selection Chairperson will notify coaches/athletes on whether they are actual team members or alternates. All athletes will be considered alternates until officially notified. Further instructions will be provided after notification. Athletes not confirmed by the state selection chair will not be able to compete. Transportation and Hotel arrangements will be made by the OTCA for athletes only. The OTCA does not profit financially from this event, but a charge to the athletes will be made to cover the cost of the bus and hotel. Great Southwest rules require that athletes stay in the same hotel as their state team members.
