Coaching Accomplishments

          2007 OK Class 6A State Championships

          2007 National Track Meets and Rankings

·        Coached Kylie Spurgeon to her second OK State Championship, breaking the State Meet Record with a throw of 163’-6”. She also placed State runner up in the shot put with a best throw of 40’-7”.

·        Coached Spurgeon to a ranking of second in the nation with a best throw of 173’-2” at Edmond North Invitational for a new overall State Record. Her throw ranks as the 25th best throw in US High School History.

·        During Spurgeon’s senior year with the Owasso Rams Kylie improved her discus throw 14 feet from her junior year. She finished the season with a best shot put throw of 41’-7”.  She was voted 2007 Gatorade Oklahoma Track and Field Athlete of the Year and earned USA Today and Nike All-American honors placing 1^st at the Great Southwest Classic and Golden West Invitational. She placed 3^rd at the Nike Outdoor Nationals and 5^th place at the USA Junior National Championships.  Spurgeon will attend SMU starting the fall of 2007 to throw the discus and shot put for the legendary throwing program for the Mustangs.

·        Her top 5 high school discus throws recorded: 173’-2”, 165-4”, 163’-6”, 160’-5” and 160’-4”.

      2007 USATF Junior Olympics Track & Field Nationals

·        Coached two Tulsa Spikes athletes to USATF National Junior Olympics Track & Field Championships in the shot put and discus.

2006 OK Class 6A State Championships

2006 National Track Meets and Rankings

·         Coached Kylie Spurgeon to an OK State Championship, breaking the overall State Record in the discus with a throw of 158’-8”. During the summer she went on to win New Mexico’s Great Southwest Track & Field Classic adding her name to the top marks performance list.

·         Coached Spurgeon to a ranking of Third in the Nation with a best throw of 160’-4” at the Adidas Golden West Invitational.

·         During her junior year with the Owasso Rams, Kylie improved her discus toss by 40 feet.  She was voted 2006 Gatorade Oklahoma Track and Field Athlete of the Year and earned USA Today All-American honors.

·        Caleb, his wife Tiffany and son Gavin reside in Owasso, OK. Caleb works as an Engineering Technician at Samson Oil & Gas Company and Personal Trainer at All-American Fitness Centers in Broken Arrow and Owasso; his wife Tiffany is a Dental Hygienist for Dr. Wrany Southard in Tulsa.
